Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil:

Space Travel: Straight or geodesics? In the Bible:

There was a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

So, the angels ascend to heaven on a stairway.

Genesis 28:12

He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind after the sudden appearance of chariot of fire and horses of fire

2 Kings 2:11

As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

The heavens are not pure in the eyes of God

Job 15:15

If God places no trust in his holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,

Who rides the ancient skies

Does anyone tell me what are the ancient skies?

Psalm 68:33

To him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice.

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?

Thousands of people do it everyday.

Just go to any International Airport

Proverbs 30:4

Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know!

No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven

Thousands of people go into heaven everyday.

Just go to any International Airport

John 3:13

No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.

Space Travel: Straight or geodesics? In Modern Sciences:

There are no straight lines in space. The direct shortest path from one point to another is a twisting curve, traversing the gravitational fields of stars and planets. Those who make every effort to maintain a direct course are, instead, unintentionally following the curve of space/time itself. Einstein’s idea–later confirmed by experiment–that space and time are relative motivated an insurgency in science. No longer were space and time independent of the things present in them. Space and time form together a “continuum,” of inseparable mesh. This “spacetime continuum” has four dimensions; they are length, width, height, and duration..

According to the basic facts of geometry: parallel lines never cross.. However, two straight, parallel lines could cross in our universe; because our spacetime continuum has its own geometry that is quite different from the one taught in schools.

Our universe is warped and curved because the gravity is warping our “spacetime continuum”. Objects normally travel in a straight line if left alone; however, planets travel in a curved path around the sun because the sun’s mass warps the spacetime around it. The planets are traveling in a straight line–but that straight line is in fact curved in spacetime itself.

Objects try to move on straight lines through spacetime but because it is curved, they move on paths called “geodesics” which is not straight. Light rays also follow geodesics in spacetime. Again the fact that space is curved means that light does not travel in straight lines in space. So general relativity expects that light should be bent by gravitational fields. Geodesics are defined to be the shortest path between points on the space

In our universe, things travel along geodesics of spacetime. Because these geodesics are curved an object’s geodesic will curve too. Light, too, travels along geodesics, and its path is bent and curved as it speeds through spacetime.

Space Travel: Straight or geodesics? In the Quran:

The Quran uses the verb “Araga” to describe the method of Space Travel.

“Araga” in Arabic means: ascend, go up or mount up to heaven.

Also, “Araga” means: walking unevenly, Lame, unable to walk steadily, to walk lamely, especially with irregularity, as if favoring one leg, to move or proceed haltingly or unsteadily and an irregular, jerky, or awkward gait.

It is interesting that the three most famous English translations of the Quran neglect the most important meaning of “Araga”.

The Quran says that any travel to heavens is achieved by

“Araga” which indicates irregular lines that are by no means straight; i.e. the lines are geodesics

Surah 34:2

SHAKIR: he knows that which goes down into the earth and that which comes out of it, and that which comes down from the heaven and that which goes up (Araga) to it; and he is the merciful, the forgiving

PICKTHAL: he knoweth that which goeth into the earth and that which cometh forth from it, and that descendeth from the heaven and that which ascendeth (Araga) into it. he is the merciful, the forgiving.

YUSUFALI: he knows all that goes into the earth, and all that comes out thereof; all that comes down from the sky and all that ascends (Araga) thereto and he is the most merciful, the oft-forgiving.

Surah 32:5

SHAKIR: he regulates the affair from the heaven to the earth; then shall it ascend (Araga) to him in a day the measure of which is a thousand years of what you count

PICKTHAL: he directeth the ordinance from the heaven unto the earth; then it ascendeth (Araga) unto him in a day, whereof the measure is a thousand years of that ye reckon.

YUSUFALI: he rules (all) affairs from the heavens to the earth: in the end will (all affairs) go up (Araga) to him, on a day, the space whereof will be (as) a thousand years of your reckoning.

Surah 57:4

SHAKIR: he it is who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and he is firm in power; he knows that which goes deep down into the earth and that which comes forth out of it, and that which comes down from the heaven and that which goes up (Araga) into it, and he is with you wherever you are; and Allah sees what you do

PICKTHAL: he it is who created the heavens and the earth in six days; then he mounted the throne. he knoweth all that entereth the earth and all that emergeth therefrom and all that cometh down from the sky and all that ascendeth (Araga) therein; and he is with you wheresoever ye may be. and Allah is seer of what ye do.

YUSUFALI: he it is who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is moreover firmly established on the throne (of authority). he knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. (Araga) and he is with you wheresoever ye may be. and Allah sees well all that ye do.

Surah 70:1- 4

SHAKIR: one demanding, demanded the chastisement which must befall

PICKTHAL: a questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall

YUSUFALI: a questioner asked about a penalty to befall-

SHAKIR: the unbelievers– there is none to avert it–

PICKTHAL: upon the disbelievers, which none can repel,

YUSUFALI: the unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,-

SHAKIR: from Allah, the lord of the ways of ascent (maAraga)

PICKTHAL: from Allah, lord of the ascending stairways (maAraga)

YUSUFALI: (a penalty) from Allah, lord of the ways of ascent (maAraga).

SHAKIR: to him ascend (Araga) the angels and the spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years

PICKTHAL: (whereby) the angels and the spirit ascend (Araga)

unto him in a day whereof the span is fifty thousand years.

YUSUFALI: the angels and the spirit ascend (Araga) unto him in a day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:

When talking about how the Angels ascend unto Allah, the Quran says that they “Taarog” (the present tense of “Araga”) unto Him in a day that measure fifty thousand years. On the other hand, the Bible says that there was a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Back to the main topic of my series of articles (1- 47); this is my question to you smart readers: “Is the Quran quoted from the Bible “? And which book preceded the modern Sciences?

Uhura

Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil:

The Bible says that there was a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it, Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind after the sudden appearance of chariot of fire and horses of fire. The heavens are not pure in the eyes of God who rides the ancient skies. No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven.

Modern Sciences say that there are no straight lines in space.

Objects move through spacetime on paths called “geodesics” which is not straight.

The Quran says that any Space Travel is achieved by “Araga” which indicates irregular lines that are by no means straight; i.e. the lines are geodesics

Boxing

Britt Gillette:

Nominated for 28 Emmys, including several for Outstanding Visual Effects, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine continues the rich tradition of the original 1960s Star Trek franchise. Created by former L.A. police officer Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek TV series morphed into a franchise famous for the unprecedented fanatical devotion of its audience. Lasting only three seasons during its original network run, Star Trek struck gold with its syndicated reruns, launching a number of motion pictures featuring the original cast as well as novels, comic books, collectibles, and reams of Star Trek-related memorabilia. Following on the heels of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), the first Star Trek series spin-off of the original, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine foreshadowed additional spin-offs – Star Trek: Voyager (1995), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). Sporting an entirely new cast and crew from its two predecessors, the show focuses on a particular system administered by the Federation instead of the usual Star Trek mission of “exploring strange new worlds”…

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine follows the exploits of the Starfleet crew aboard an abandoned and gutted Cardassian space station orbiting the planet of Bajor. In the aftermath of Cardassian occupation, the Bajorian government invited the Starfleet to oversee the reconstruction of the space station. Deep Space Nine quickly transformed into a teeming city of commerce and a hub for travel (similar to Babylon 5) thanks to the discovery of an unknown wormhole nearby. But the wormhole leads to the Gamma Quadrant, realm of the feared Dominion alliance, which views the wormhole travelers as a threat to its totalitarian grip on power. As such, the Dominion launches an attack against the Federation and its Klingon allies. The subsequent and ongoing war is the basis for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine…

Capt. Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) is credited with discovering the wormhole, and he oversees the crew of Deep Space Nine as they wage battle to preserve the Federation. Ironically, his colleague, Constable Odo (Rene Auberjonois), is a Changeling – an alien race of “shapeshifters” who lead the Dominion’s united front. Together with the rest of the crew aboard Deep Space Nine, they struggle with internal and external conflicts that threaten to destroy their very way of life…

The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Emissary” in which the recently abandoned Cardassian space station, Terok Nor, is resettled by the Federation at the request of the Bajorians. Capt. Benjamin Sisko takes command and his discovery of the first stable wormhole nearby, a wormhole worshipped by the Bajorians as a god, transforms Sisko into a prophet in the eyes of the Bajorians. Meanwhile, the audience meets the rest of the cast and crew for Deep Space Nine… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Move Along Home” in which Quark’s cheating prompts a group of aliens from Gamma Quadrant to exact revenge on the crew of Deep Space Nine, and “Dramatis Personae” in which an indwelling by aliens transforms Sisko and Kira into enemies of the crew…

Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Season 1) DVD:

Episode 1 (Emissary: Part 1) Air Date: 01-03-1993

Episode 2 (Emissary: Part 2) Air Date: 01-03-1993

Episode 3 (A Man Alone) Air Date: 01-10-1993

Episode 4 (Past Prologue) Air Date: 01-17-1993

Episode 5 (Babel) Air Date: 01-24-1993

Episode 6 (Captive Pursuit) Air Date: 01-31-1993

Episode 7 (Q-Less) Air Date: 02-07-1993

Episode 8 (Dax) Air Date: 02-14-1993

Episode 9 (The Passenger) Air Date: 02-21-1993

Episode 10 (Move Along Home) Air Date: 03-14-1993

Episode 11 (The Nagus) Air Date: 03-21-1993

Episode 12 (Vortex) Air Date: 04-18-1993

Episode 13 (Battle Lines) Air Date: 04-25-1993

Episode 14 (The Story Teller) Air Date: 05-02-1993

Episode 15 (Progress) Air Date: 05-09-1993

Episode 16 (If Wishes Were Horses) Air Date: 05-16-1993

Episode 17 (The Forsaken) Air Date: 05-23-1993

Episode 18 (Dramatis Personae) Air Date: 05-30-1993

Episode 19 (Duet) Air Date: 06-13-1993

Episode 20 (In the Hands of the Prophets) Air Date: 06-20-1993

Are you a trekkie?
